About the SGS
The Sacramento Guitar Society (SGS) is a non-profit educational and service organization that has existed in one form or another since at least 1961. We have one of the more active and successful guitar societies in the country, with “unbelievably good” international touring artists appearing in an ideal listening environment – the Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College and now at the Sofia Tsakopoulos Center for the Arts in Sacramento.

Hello friends,
It’s that time of the year again for the Annual Celebration of the 7-String Guitar! This year, Matthew Grasso will be playing a piece I composed for him, along with a ton of other great music. I’ll be in attendance, and I hope you will be, too. Here are the details.
Matthew Grasso’s 19th Annual Celebration of the 7-String Guitar
The 19th Annual Celebration of the 7-String Guitar concert will showcase music consisting of both composed and improvised music for multi-stringed guitars. Dr. George England, the guitar professor at Sacramento State University, will perform on a period instrument, the 14-stringed archlute. Matthew Grasso will perform original works for the extended 7-string by regional composers, Sean O’Connor and Miyan Grasso, as well as his own compositions. Trio Seven reunites to perform original transcriptions of movie and video game themes.
This annual concert on July 7th celebrates innovative guitar designs and a diversity of literature that highlights the artistry of the multistring guitar players.
