You may have heard of an orchestra with wind and string instruments. But perhaps, you may not have seen or heard of an all-guitar orchestra.
A Community Orchestra is for EVERYONE!
Thanks to a grant from the California Art Council, we are able to fund two community guitar orchestras, one in Sacramento and another in Davis, CA. We offer a intermediate level (L1) and advanced level (L2) in each city. The orchestra is open to everyone of any age, and the best part is that it’s FREE! We welcome all students who enjoy playing in an ensemble. Join us!
Skill level benchmark:
Intermediate orchestra is for guitarists who have a solid grasp of scales, chords, and the notes on the neck from first position. You must be able to read sheet music (i.e., notes, not tablature). We are primarily classical players, so a nylon-strung instrument is best, but steel strings are acceptable if you play with your fingers. Bring your guitar and come join us for a friendly and fun rehearsal session.
