Member Hosted Event: A Peaceful Pandemic Performance – Ragas
October 24, 2020 @ 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Event Navigation
Please join for an evening of Indian classical ragas. This peaceful and meditative musical performance will showcase three traditional ragas: Yaman, Kirvani, and Hamsadwani, and we be set in some esoteric rhythmic cycles of 4 ¾ , 9 ¼ and traditional 16 beats. The instruments being used will have a mixture of tradition and innovation. Our concert will have: a pair of uniquely designed nylon stringed raga guitars, tabla a traditional percussion instrument, and an early music keyboard instrument called the virginal. All instruments are tuned in pure acoustical intervals.
This “Pandemic Performance” will take place outside on a driveway requiring at least eight feet of social distancing, plus masks for everyone’s safety. Please bring your own chair, hat, and beverage. Although the concert is free, please consider donating $15-$20 to help support the musicians. The program will last about an hour.
